I usually focus on the Central Phoenix Area with my hotspots, but this one is special and worth the drive. Everyone knows I love all things scary and I ALSO love all things yummy, so this place is the best of both worlds for me!
Spooky’s Swirls – Props & Pastries is a lovely gluten-free bakery located in Paseo Del Oro in Chandler. Started by 2 pastry chefs with over 30 years experience, they have lovely treats {Spooky’s Swirls (cinnamon bun), Scream Cheese Cakes (cheesecakes), breakfast Cinna-Sammies (sausage, egg, cheese on a sliced cinnamon bun), custom sugar cookies that reflect the props on exhibit, themed cupcakes, seasonal offerings and more…along with a variety of teas and coffees. “The Horror & SciFi Prop Preservation Association (The HSPPA) is a not-for-profit museum of screen used & production made props, costumes, and film relics that focus on the Horror & Science Fiction genres with a sub-branching into the Super-Hero/Comic Book, Fantasy, Thriller and Action genres.
The HSPPA champions the collection and restoration of some of the most incredible screen used props in cinema history and we are honored to share a selection of these on rotating exhibit at SPOOKY’S SWIRLS.
The HSPPA was formed in mid-2015 as a traveling museum and has curated over 60 individual
exhibits at conventions and movie theaters across the country. Currently the museum stands at over 3000 props & 1000 costumes from films like ALIENS, BILL & TED’S BOGUS JOURNEY, FRIDAY THE 13TH PART VII, BEETLEJUICE, AMERICAN HORROR STORY, STAR WARS FRANCHISE, AQUAMAN, HARRY POTTER FRANCHISE, SILENT HILL, DOGMA, THOR, FANTASTIC FOUR, THE STRAIN, HELL FEST, 20000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA, TOTAL RECALL, HALLOWEEN FRANCHISE, BUCK ROGERS, JOHN WICK 2, ASH VS EVIL DEAD, ARROW, DEATH TO SMOOCHY and so many more! There’s an incredible 25 active Event Curators and nearly 20 Featured Exhibitors spanning the Globe. In 2018, West Coast and East Coast Branches of The HSPPA began, enabling us to reach more locations with greater ease.”
